I get you from A to B and back, no stress, no getting lost and not something from the usual tourist list. Handpicked trails built around you and your group, whether you're visiting Hong Kong for the first time, just arrived in the city or a local looking for something beyond the obvious. Looking forward to getting out there with you.
When I first moved to Hong Kong, finding a trailhead was a nightmare. Half the time I got lost before I even started. I've spent 8 years figuring it all out, so you don't have to. No Dragon's Back, no Morning Trail, no crowds. Just proper hikes, with someone who knows exactly where he's going.
A raw ridgeline hike with serious elevation. I handle the navigation, you just focus on putting one foot in front of the other.
ChallengingJungle, canyon and coastline in one route. The kind of trail that has no signage, which is exactly why you need me.
ModerateRemote island trails most expats have never heard of. I've done the research, the recce and the logistics, just show up.
RemoteYou don't need to research anything, download any maps or figure out the MTR. Just show up at the meeting point with good shoes and I'll handle everything else, navigation, timing, logistics, the lot.
A focused 4–5 hour adventure. Perfect if you're short on time but want to see the side of Hong Kong most visitors never find.
The full experience, 7 to 8 hours deep in the trails, with hidden viewpoints, lunch breaks and stories you'll tell for years.
Good to know: Hikes run year-round. Best conditions October–April. All skill levels welcome, tell me your fitness level when you book and I'll match you to the right route. Private group bookings available on request.
I moved to Hong Kong 8 years ago and quickly realised two things: everyone hikes here, and almost no one knows what's actually out there.
I'm a trail runner first, hiker second. I've spent years exploring every corner of this city's wild side. Not the easy stuff from travel blogs, but the real routes: the ridge scrambles where you need both hands, the jungle trails that vanish into nothing, the quiet peaks above the MTR that 99% of the city has never stood on.
I started The Hong Kong Hiker because friends kept asking me to take them out. Now I do it for small groups of curious people, expats, tourists, adventurers, who want to see Hong Kong the way I see it.
What I will do is get you from A to B and back, safely, efficiently, with zero stress.
I speak English, Dutch and French, so whatever your language, we're good.
Small groups, honest trails, no bullshit. That's what I'm about.
Tell me your fitness level, who's coming and what you're after. I'll come back with a route that fits. No generic packages, every hike is put together with your group in mind.
Not sure what you want? That's fine. Tell me a bit about your group, fitness level, how adventurous you're feeling, how much time you have, and I'll take it from there. That's the whole point of booking with a real person instead of a tour operator.
